Fashion is not just beauty, it’s about good attitude

The city of London, one of the most visited cities in the world, famous for Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and London cabbies. It is almost fair to say that London has its own personality, its own humour and style, which can only really be described as 'British'! Whilst keeping up to date with the rest of the world, our status as an island shines through when we take a step back and realise how unique we are in many things, from our notorious weather to our take on fashion trends. So as February 15th 2013 came, one of the world’s most stylish, fashion conscious cities played host to an array of beautiful outfits, eagerly anticipated designs and upcoming looks; indeed we are referring to the prominent event in any fashionista’s calendar that is London Fashion Week.

From February 15th to February 19th the nation’s capital welcomed reporters, VIP guests, established and emerging designers to gather in fashion unity to share, comment and take note of the look for AW13/14. As designs were brought to life on the catwalk, the world cast its eyes on the latest pieces, each outfit under scrutiny with the aim of closely being followed by an approving nod. One upcoming designer hoping for approval of her collection was Yeashin Kim.

Yeashin Kim

Yeashin Kim was born and raised in South Korea, before moving to London and graduating from the London College of Fashion with a BA in Fashion Womenswear. She launched her brand ‘YEASHIN’ in 2011, and has achieved a strong amount of recognition and accolades including the Best Fashion Graduates of 2011 in Vogue UK, 2011 London College of Fashion Press Show finalist and WGSN Global Fashion Awards 2011 Most Creative Student Collection. Working on collections for the past two years, Yeashin has based her brand in London and brought her AW13/14 collection to London Fashion Week, naming it 'Woodland'.

The collection from Yeashin juxtaposed inspiration from the English 60’s era with traditional Korean dress. She comments that the variety of materials used, attention to details combined with well used colours creates the uniqueness of her work.

On day two of London Fashion Week, Yeashin’s moment had arrived to wow the catwalk and the rest of the world with her ideas. Significant industry people lined the rows of the Freemason’s Hall to view the 'Ones to Watch' as Yeashin’s AW13 collection was first up to grace the catwalk. Followed are a series of images from the event.

Yeashin's AW13/14: Warm winter- the fur hat and woolen poncho combination guarantee to block those winter chills.

Yeashin went against the monochrome look, and splashed colour onto the catwalk. Trend details laced the cuffs and collars stood out, not to mention the use of wool and knitwear which added the cosy factor to the style. Ideal for AW13.

Yeashin's AW13/14: Hats off to the designer- a towering display of fashion emerging on the catwalk.

The awash of colours, unusual silhouettes and multitude of textures including digitally printed wood grain from Korean furniture definitely left an impression on all those who witnessed this ‘Woodland’ collection. Unveiled to the eyes was a quirky, convivial collection from a designer who wishes to make waves in fashion. As London Fashion Week drew to a close, the heels were taken off and the luxury handbags stowed away safe until next time, it is in no doubt that Yeashin Kim left her imprint and can safely be labelled as 'One to Watch'.
