Versace for H&M

High End + High Street

In the latest offering in the line of collaborations between high end and high street brands, comes the pairing of Versace with H&M. The collection debuted on the 8th of November in a grand event in New York, which was nothing short of spectacular. Pier 57 was transformed into a glittering mass of gold and disco balls, reflecting the ethos of the collection itself. The guest list consisted of the fashion elite including Blake Lively, Linda Evangelista and Nicki Minaj, with some of the elite sporting the fabulous collection.

The clothes did not disappoint either, spreading from quirky printed leggings to the classic LBD with twist. There is an item of clothing to suit every situation, individual sense of style and taste. The collection is heavy on jungle and oriental inspired prints splashed over jackets, leggings, and shirts, which are perfect for brightening up your winter wardrobe. They are not as daunting as they look and can easily be adapted for daily wear, but perhaps avoid adding them to your work wardrobe. They may be just a little too out there for that.

For the more conservative dressers among us, the collection contains some classic pieces in toned down block colours such as black, navy, and royal blue. These pieces feature in more classic boxy cuts with criss - crossing straps and asymmetric hemlines.

In addition, the collection goes one-step further, by including jewellery, handbags, and designer bed linen. Donatella has really thought of everything! Pillowcases and bedspreads are also available in beautiful, floral oriental prints, which are sure to make you want to stay in bed all day. It would definitely boost your style points, by being able to say that you sleep in Versace!

The men’s clothing in the collection are just as flamboyant, including brightly coloured suits in repetitive prints. They are not for the faint hearted and only a fashion forward man could pull off such daring twists on classic shapes.

The pieces retail at a little more than standard H&M prices, but for pieces as unique and eye catching as these, it is almost worth lightening the load of your bank account. The collection is available online and in stores from the 17th November.
