This Christmas - JT and ONJ

Star Power

It has been quite a terrible year for John Travolta with all the gay accusations (if it's true just say John!) and what not. His career has been affected by his ridiculous hair transplant and his advancing years. Olivia Newton-John, has been as close to as invisible can be. So in the spirit of Christmas and friendship they got back together to bring us 'This Christmas', a festive charity album. Any money raised goes towards each of the stars own charities. Which even before you listen to the album is an achievement in itself.

Cheese Fest

Now, I would love to rip the album to shreds. It is super cheesy and bordering on being dated. The middle aged stars still have their voices; the years have been kind in that respect. But to be honest, I would have it on in the background for my family Christmas. All but one are familiar songs that everyone can hum, sing, or tap along to.

Christmas Grease?

Before I go onto the Christmas jingles covered, let me just give a special mention to "I Think You Might Like It." This song is upbeat, folky and cheesy. On saying this, the song would blend into any background. You need to watch the video. Queue the link.

I Think You Might Like It music video with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

Those moves, the plane, the beard, the family dancing, the sun and everything else. I do have one problem with the video though. The dancing could be much better! I know they are getting on but I know they can do better than that. I heard through the grapevine that they intend for this song act as a sequel for “You're The One That I Want”. Whoops.

Worth it?

With duets from Barbara Streisand, Tony Bennet and James Taylor (also known as the retirement crew) the album does certainly offer more than your average Christmas album. I personally find it amusing to think about those two in the recording studio together forcing a friendship for the camera. Then leaving to binge drink and chain smoke to their past careers.

Too bitchy?

I for one will have it on at my mother’s this Christmas. It will be the perfect conversation starter and I have listened to it enough to perfect my impersonations. Totally worth the time.
