Feline Army Have Taken Over The Internet

I don’t know if anyone has noticed but the feline army have swarmed together and have taken over the Internet. Why? I hear you ask, well there are many theories. Cats have existed along side us for thousands of years; they have always had great personalities, which reflect our own. The strong image of the intelligent cat in contrast to the slow dog was evident in many tales as I grew up, making the cat character usually more attractive.

Many people say you choose your favourite pet in relation to what you were raised with, me personally – cats are by far my pet of choice and true to the theory they are what I lived with as a child. So despite the cat related Internet jokes and memes such as the oh so famous ‘Grumpy Cat’, there’s something a lot deeper that keeps the public amused. Do we enjoy them so much as it allows us to explore parts of our personality, by seeing characteristics and personality traits in them that we can relate to? Or is it just a weakness for their cute fury faces.

Cats Dug Their Claws Into Fashion

Whatever your reason, cats are booming across many industries and now they have dug their claws into fashion. Both designer brands and high street giants have jumped on board, making cats a necessity for your wardrobe. "Cats are so fashion. Think about it. They're sleek; they're kind of chic. They're not giving it away. You gotta work for it a little bit, you know what I mean?" Bill Wackermann, the publishing director of Glamour. Designers such as Victoria Beckham who you would not associate with such a trend, has also released a beautiful cat inspired line. It includes a repetitive feline print and shines a classy light on the trend.

With this trend going viral however, we have to wade through quite a lot of tack to find the ‘purrrrfect’ pieces. Highstreet retailers are designing their own takes fit for those without a fat cat purse. I’ve shown below three of the most popular cat style garments. The giant cat face graphic print is very common on the highstreet, seen over a range of tee’s and sweaters and supplying a mix of nerd and glamour. Street brands such as HYPE have mixed the cat theme with on trend galaxy prints to create a hipster fusion pleasing on the eye. Another very successful cat related fashion trend is the Feline Meow tee’s and jumpers by Brian Lichtenberg, the statement ‘Feline Meow’ writing is memorable and of a high impact. They are chic and look worth every penny.

Has the feline fashion frenzy used up all of its nine lives? With cats everywhere I’m worried that soon it will fade along side the memes and the adorable photos. I wouldn’t say I’m excited for this transition, with the ‘crazy cat lady’ now being a statement to be proud of, I’m kind of enjoying my social media threads being packed with my favourite fluffy felines.
