Outrageous, Sensational and Genius, A Show Everyone Wanted to See

Arriving and walking into a Pam Hogg catwalk show was like being allowed inside Andy Warhol’s Factory; a spectacle and gathering of creative’s and celebrities with the likes of Alexandra Burke, Duran Duran and Agent Provocateur founder Serena Rees, all awaiting for a look inside the bizarre world of Hogg’s imagination. The designer originally from Glasgow has been around since the 80’s. She has dressed Gaga to Kylie, worked with Jarvis Cocker and was named a ‘Cult Status’ by Terry Wogan. So the air was thick with excitement as the crowd eagerly waited to see what this mad punk designer was going to rock up!

Folk Culture with a Shiny Space Age Look

As soon as the first model waltzed on the catwalk, you could instantly tell that the show was going to be fun, daring and original. It felt like you were warped in some kind of crazy futuristic folk party; it was strange and psychotic but incredibly pleasurable at the same time. Half way through two of the models even grabbed each other’s hands and danced in a little twirl! The costumes showcased Hogg’s trademark geometric shapes in red, black white, grey, silver, copper and gold while all the models wore huge bonnets swallowing their heads, giving the collection a strange sci-fi aesthetic that was both fantastical and avant-garde.

Furry Merkins and Sexy Bondage

In the first part of the show models zoomed out in towering platform heels, and wore swinging latex dirndl skirts, followed by skin-tight cat suits. Gradually the couture became quite erotic with the models covered in just lace and ribbon. One of her more obscure bodysuits featured a furry bonnet and merkin (- a pubic wig known to be worn by sex workers after shaving their genitalia area) with red lace and silver lame, quite a bizarre but interesting mix of materials.

Voluptuous Creatures Emerge

All Hogg's extravagant works of art were sexy body-hugging wonder suits. As the show ended a glittery sequinned full length dress in lilac and rose skimmed past us; followed by a dolly like mesh culotte dress and finally finishing on a boudoir outfit constructed entirely of red bow. It was so damn good to watch and daydream about! Hence the best part was when the designer ran on to the stage, her bright yellow hair standing out a mile!
