Cheating on your partner - when is it ok?

I guess for me the first time I cheated it was the thrill of getting away with it that made it so exciting. Right under her nose and she didn't even see. It was like a drug and I wanted to do it again, but the fear of getting caught was always foremost in my thoughts. Waiting, waiting... like a wild animal on a hunt I bided my time. I watched her movements. Was she on to me? Had she noticed? I looked deep into her eyes to try and read her thoughts. Her steely glare gave nothing away, but I sensed the air of trust I had worked so hard to build up wasn't broken.

The first time, I must admit, I did feel a tinge of guilt, but it's not as if she was completely innocent in all of this. She had provoked me with her air of superiority and her nonchalant attitude towards me. The satisfaction of getting one over on her felt so good and although it was a small victory, it was a victory nonetheless.

The moment of truth had arrived and my meticulous planning was ready to reach a heady climax. She left the room for a toilet break. I reached into the full deck of cards and quickly located the joker, which I had surreptitiously marked. Discarding the near worthless two of clubs I had in one swell swoop upped my hand from unplayable to unbeatable. She returned none the wiser and on the following hand I threw down my cards to tumultuous applause from my slightly blotted conscious. I won the series 5 - 4 thereby rendering me champion and in addition absolving me of any household duties for the rest of the weekend.

Dear Bob,

When considering whether one should cheat, first consider the four key Pillars of Evil on which cheating is built. Only when these pillars of evil have been considered can we decide whether cheating is worthwhile. You must judge the advantage you will gain on the four pillars to decide whether the risk and a life of covering it up are worth it.

1) Power... Do you gain an advantage and hold of power over a loved one? Then cheat. Exploit them for your evil end.

2) Money... If you gain financially over your loved one, then cheat for the material word.

3) Pride... If you gain a feeling of superiority over your loved, and you make them feel bad.... then do it!

4) Sex... If you gain sexual advantage over someone, this covers most of the reasons men lie... Then of course do it.

It was ok for you to cheat as you gained not one but two of these pillars, so you did well to cheat my apprentice.... Only when we know the evil benefits we can gain, can we then make a decision.

There are the three moral demons you must slay to be a great cheat, faith, love and friendship. Only when you can look a loved one in the eye and fane all three can you be a true cheat.
