Eat Your Heart Out and The Pretox Potion

When you hear of maggots, decapitated body parts, mould, blood and, funny enough, zits, very frightening things come to mind. If someone told you that you will be eating a maggot, devour several vaginas and take home a human heart, even more bizarre and frightening things would come to mind. Well, we thought the same until we put that very first maggot into our mouths, accompanied by the very special PRETOX Potion.

Halloween - Heavy Metal band The Defined

Between the 28th - 31st October 2010, 'Eat Your Heart Out and The PRETOX Potion', possibly the World’s first 18+ cake shop, opened the 'dungeon' of Maiden on Shoreditch High Street selling 666 terrifying Halloween creations each day. The heavy metal band The Defined honoured the opening with a performance and a cake fight. Brought to you by The Mad Artists Tea Party and PRETOX Drink Alibi, 'Eat Your Heart Out and The PRETOX Potion Shop' was about encouraging artists, bakers and potion-makers to work together creating an amazing culinary experience and providing a platform from which people can explore the darkest corners of their mind, bringing their most disturbing vision to life in delicious edible forms for Halloween.

The gore… The art… The cakes…

'Eat Your Heart Out & The PRETOX Potion' had created unique, edible and gory works of art. Suffocated porn series in cupcake form was a killer! The 'Road Kill' cake decoration looked gruesomely realistic and the brutally murdered hooker in the bath a.k.a. Blood Bath was the cherry on the cake! - Shockingly gruesome and terribly fun!

Other scrumptious exhibits included the Death Head, Curious Confectioner’s Finger Food – as the menu puts it, 100% genuine wizard’s fingers and thumbs for pushing those magic buttons. Then we had the Heart and Maggot Cake, Squeezable Zit and Psycho 'To Do' List cupcakes with further highlights including the Bompas and Parr’s Occult Jam, which was said to include a tiny spec of Princess Diana's hair.

halloween evil cakes, fingers

Would you eat it? Of course you would, you silly goose! The scrumptious cakes come in many flavours, and as much as we were expecting the real thing, we were not at all disappointed to sink our teeth into disguised chocolate, cream and a variety of delicious sponges, all containing one of the PRETOX potion Alibi’s 17 beneficial vitamins and herbs.

The gory menu

We also had a further peak at The Evil Cakes Shop menu, which had a crazy variety of cakes with rather graphic and entertaining descriptions. To quote one amongst many: "Cakeypigg's I Must Not Kill The Teacher (serves 24) – Sweet little girls aren't always what they seem so be careful who you tell off for forgetting their homework. This cake has a classroom scene with a pigtailed schoolgirl stood over the dead and bloody body of her teacher. Inside is a chocolaty chocolate cake made with sour cream and freshly brewed coffee."

Mind you, the menu also caters for your 'evil' young offsprings with children-friendly options such as Rotting Food Cake Pops – a chocolate sponge disguised as rotting fruits with a mouldy maggot ridden candy coating, as well as Body Parts Cake Pops – a vanilla sponge disguised as gruesome body parts with bloody candy coating. - Enough Halloween madness for the whole family.

…Now where shall I get my bloody wedding cake done?
