Alice Lee SS12 – Ones To Watch, Vauxhall Fashion Scout

There is a definite buzz of excitement every year at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, and this year there were no exceptions. Vauxhall Fashion Scout gives some of the newest and most cutting edge designers a chance to bring their most elaborate and sophisticated collections to the catwalk, for national and international buyers and press. It’s a chance for everyone involved to shine.

One of the designers that I thought particularly stuck out this year were design duo Alice Lee. Known for their complex and intricate knitwear, their Spring/Summer 2012 collection is simply astounding. Their overall aesthetic look is knitwear, but they give it edge by adding elements of Haute Couture. Constructed from a very simple colour scheme (white, grey, black and one red) and with simplistic shaping, these styles of knitwear will have many people longing to be wrapped up in this collection for the upcoming winter months and longer.

Dresses came cascading down the runway but these were no ordinary dresses, they had been beautifully knitted and constructed together. While those special artistic finishing touches? - The remarkable knitted millinery and neck attire. These pieces emanate that Haute Couture look, but make it so ready to wear.

Alongside dresses, knitted trousers with the matching jackets were also incorporated. These jackets were not your normal tailored jackets though, because upon the shoulders expect to find that intricate Alice Lee embellished tailoring that brings these garments alive. One of the items that caught my eye was a beautiful nude dress with white striped stitching upon the lower half. The convoluted stitching upon the dress also shows a glimmer of flesh, enhancing the flirtatiousness of the dress but keeping it conservative.

With sexy open backs, knitted accessories, plunging necklines, and opulent fishtails, it is no wonder that Alice Lee were selected by Vauxhall Fashion Scout as the Ones To Watch this season.
